Travelling to Falmouth is really straightforward with main roads and rail networks connecting the town with the rest of the county. It is even possible to fly with Cornwall Airport Newquay located a 45 minute drive away.
To help you plan ahead we have outlined the various ways you can travel to us and begin your Cornish adventure;
Travel By Car
It takes less than five hours to get from London to Falmouth by car with motorways and dual carriageways most of the way. We suggest you drive along the M4 Motorway from London, or M6 from Manchester, before joining the M5 to Exeter and finally the recently upgraded A30. If traffic is heavy, you may choose to travel along the A38, through Plymouth and Saltash into South East Cornwall.
Thanks to its popularity, Cornwall experiences exceptionally high volumes of traffic on its roads during the peak summer months, often leaving the A30 congested. This is especially true over the weekends so we advise travelling overnight or outside of these peak hours to avoid long delays.
To help you plan we suggest you use Waze or Google Maps, both of which will provide you with real-time traffic information as you go. It is also worth checking RAC Route Finder or the AA Route Planner to create a more detailed travel plan, complete with timings and mileage.
